On the road again, again
Me again with an irrelevant update about how we're going out of town again. It's been a very busy last few weeks both personally and professionally. Rather than going on and on, perhaps an update once we return from our trip to NY/NJ? I'm packing an industrial sized box of tissues for Brian's last visit to the old Yankee's Stadium. Stay tuned!

On the road again
It's been a while since I traveled for my job. I've been working a lot more on environmental issues lately, so there hasn't been the need. Then this great opportunity came up with a top-tier national publication for a "green" photo shoot, so I'm hitting the road.
First stop, Nashville, TN. Next up, Richmond, VA. I thought, if I'm going to be that close, I have to go to KY, so I'm flying home Thursday night. Yay! I'm very excited to see my family and friends.
I'm NOT excited about the weather, particularly the humidity. It's supposed to be 96 when I arrive in Nashville (with 96% humidity also, I'm sure). Richmond is supposed to hit 101+ next week - UGH. At least Lexington will just be nice and balmy with isolated T-storms in the upper 80s. Ick.
Everyone knows I'm a packer and a planner. I've been so worried about all the work details that I haven't even begun my personal packing. I guess I'll do that tomorrow! Here's my list:
- Deodorant
- Clothes made of gauze to prevent excessive "I've lived in San Francisco too long" sweating
- Umbrella
- Camera to take pictures of me wearing safety shoes, work glasses and orange vest (not a joke)
- Hair rubberband to pull back my hair the second I leave the hotel
- Magazine to read on the plane and fan myself with at all stops
- Mapquest directions to Wal-Mart because I need to pick up stuff when I get there
I think that should just about cover it. Any other ideas?
P.S. I may not have a chance to write until I get home on Fathers' Day.Monday, June 2, 2008
Sex and the City? Yes, please!
They say sex sells. I bought some this weekend.
Oh, get your mind out of the gutter - I mean I bought a ticket to the long-awaited Sex and the City movie. And like most things related to sex, it was worth the wait.
I went in with low expectations to prevent disappointment, but now I'm convinced... If you liked the pithy, clever and hilarious series at all during its time on HBO (or even reruns on TBS), you'll almost certainly enjoy the movie. I laughed out loud several times, got ticked off at certain male characters several times, and even teared up several times - a full range of emotions over the 2+ hours.
Was is perfect? No. Worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Absolutely!

Baseball
Brian has been begging me to post some photos of him playing baseball. These photos are from a few weeks ago, on the day he doubled his batting average. Yesterday he played catcher and today he keeps talking about how sore he is. Apparently catching is not goot for hallux limitis!
